The EPA is stepping up to enforce provisions of the Clean Air Act. In doing this they need to set standards against which industrial operations will be measured. This has been going on for years. To set the standards for emissions, other laws need to be addressed. Four new emissions standards established under the Clean Air act have been issued. They are "major source boiler","solid waste incineration emissions CISWI","area source boiler",and "sewage sludge SSI".
In April 2010, the EPA experienced a backlash from stakeholders. The EPA petitioned the federal court last December for more time.The court said no and the EPA put the rules out that same day.
The EPA's feels that the health benefits outweigh the cost involved for businesses.
